The Fitness Atlantic in 2002 was held at the Palace Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. This year the women’s division grew to 21 female contestants! Wendi West took the overall fitness division while Grant Johnson beat out returning champ Kofi Abrampah. The two were friends and both personal trainers from the same gym in Rhode Island. The former champion from 2000 Morris Mendez returned this year only the heavyweight class but Grant Johnson took the overall.  This was the first year introducing Ms Bikini, which only had two contestants.
