Rosanna LoMonte - Success Takes Time

Rosanna Lomonte A wise man (or woman*) once said, "Anything worth having is worth waiting for". I am one of the lucky individuals who has to work hard in order to achieve anything. I guess you can say I am not particularly gifted with the natural ability to do anything exceptionally well. But that has never stopped me from accomplishing anything I set my mind to.

I know I am not alone in this regard, and I hope my story will inspire others as well. When you get down to it, nothing in life is really easy. Anything you really want to achieve takes time, dedication and above all patience. Especially in Fitness. Everyday is trial and error, you push yourself until you think you have reached your limit only to compete in a show and discover you didn't push yourself hard enough. You study nutrition, heed the advice of nutritionists and discover that the results you desire not only will not appear over night, but they might not appear after a couple of months and it's back to the drawing board.

Put it all in perspective. No, it's not easy. But you know what? I am glad it isn't. If I woke up tomorrow and discovered I was perfect then I would have nothing to strive for. Part of the fun is pushing myself harder and harder and discovering that I could do things I never thought I could.

I recently competed in my second show, for all intents and purposes my performance and appearance was 100 times better than my first show. I arrived in Boston confident that I was ready and that I would 'make a name for myself' so-to-speak. Well, the results came in and didn't do as well as I thought. I didn't even make top ten. So I went through a couple of different phases, first indifference, than disappointment set in. At this point I said to myself "Stop being foolish. Big deal. There will be other shows. Besides, look at how you improved from the last time!" That motivated me again. I'm so driven to push myself even harder now. After seeing how I improved so far, I know I can do even better.

It is important to remember that competing in sports is never easy. There will always be someone who can run faster, jump higher, dance better. The trick is training to be the best athlete you can and, in the world of Fitness / Figure competing, going on stage and strutting your stuff so convincingly you can't be denied recognition.

This future super-star is working extra hard for the Fitness / Bikini Atlantic competition in April. My goal for that show is to make top ten for bikini - this will not be an easy task, but I'm up for the challenge because success takes time "Anything worth having, is worth waiting for".
